Activities

Antigua adventures

Beyond the grounds of Dickenson Bay Cottages, a host of exciting adventures are all within easy reach. Join a Jeep adventure into the rainforest, play golf, or discover some of the island’s 365 beautiful beaches. The island also has a fascinating history, revealed in several interesting sites around the island. You’ll also want to stroll around the vibrant capital city of St. John’s, stopping to dine and to shop for unusual souvenirs. Our experienced staff can arrange everything you

need to make your excursion complete, from transportation and directions to suggestions for things to see along the way.

Here are some of our suggestions:

SHIRLEY HEIGHTS in English Harbour is one of Antigua’s most notable historical sites, filled with activity and nightlife (during the winter months). Shirley Heights offers the best views over English Harbour, so stop off for a photo call before continuing down to Nelson’s Dockyard – named after Admiral Horatio Nelson – now a national park.

Here you’ll find yachts, bars and boutiques, museums, inns and although it tends to be quiet during the summer months, it still merits a visit any time of year.

Spare a few moments to take a leisurely drive along the lush terrain of FIG TREE DRIVE, continuing on a little further to BETTYS HOPE PLANTATION to get a better idea of the island’s history. DEVIL’S BRIDGE and HARMONY HALL (open only Nov-May) are also well worth a visit.

Other interesting places include MONKS HILL, FORT BARRINGTON and FORT JAMES.

THE MUSEUM, THE PUBLIC MARKET, THE GOVERNMENT HOUSE and the ST. JOHN’S CATHEDRAL, are just a few of the other places that you can visit while staying here.

Local charters are available for you to explore other neighbouring islands, including our sister island of Barbuda, Montserrat, Bird Island.
